Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith is not expected to play in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings due to an ankle injury, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Kevin Smith Injury Update: Lions RB Not Expected To Play
The Detroit Lions have had serious problems trying to keep their running backs healthy this season, and mid-season addition Kevin Smith has been no exception. Smith originally suffered a sprained ankle in the Lions' Thanksgiving day game against the Green Bay Packers. Although he played in Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, he missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday and then pulled up while running a pass route during Friday's practice and immediately left the field.
If Smith is unable to go, the Lions will likely have to split reps between Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams. Morris has produced 268 rushing yards to go with 24 receptions for 217 yards in spot duty this season.
