Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith is "Questionable" for Sunday night's game against the New Orleans Saints with a sprained right ankle.
Kevin Smith Questionable With Ankle Injury
Smith was held out of Wednesday’s practice before returning on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday. After being out of football for a few months, Smith plans to play on Sunday night.
“I’m on track,” Smith said according to the Detroit Free Press...“I’m definitely one of the toughest people in the world.”
A 2008 third-round pick out of Central Florida, Smith ran for 1,856 yards and 12 touchdowns over his first three seasons with the Lions, but finishing back-to-back seasons on injured reserve prevented the Lions from making a qualifying offer to the restricted free agent last offseason. Injuries to Mikel Leshoure and Jahvid Best prompted the Lions to re-sign Smith in early November. In Smith's second game back, he had 140 yards rushing and 61 yards receiving with a pair of touchdowns, earning NFC Player of the Week honors.
Smith was injured in the first quarter of the Lions' 27-15 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.
