The Seattle Seahawks entered free agency last July and eyed WR Sidney Rice to complement WR Mike Williams in their passing game. The idea was good but, to this point, the results haven't. Rice has a shoulder injury that's kept him out of action to this point.
Sidney Rice’s Injury May Be Torn Labrum; Plans To Postpone Surgery
According to Jay Glazer, the injury is actually a torn labrum, which is serious and explains why Pete Carroll said Rice was a “longshot” to play against Pittsburgh in Week 2.
Glazer also reports that Rice is trying to avoid surgery so he can play through the injury. This isn’t a surprising move because a torn labrum normally has a fairly lengthy recovery process. If it’s mostly a pain issue, then Rice will try to play through it.
It sounds like it’ll be a tough season for Rice. If he gets healthy, it’ll be interesting to see if he can actually produce. There’s no use fighting through this if he’s not going to be productive.
