Houston Texans wide receiver Bruce Ellington appears set to make the team, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson. Ellington had been recently cut by both the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets.
Bruce Ellington to make cut, hit fantasy waiver wire
The Texans receiver has made a noticeable impact in the past three weeks. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: There’s no question who the top dog in Houston is. It’s DeAndre Hopkins. Jaelen Strong, Will Fuller, Braxton Miller, and more fall behind the main man. That means Ellington is likely just filling a roster spot. That’s OK by him as it earns him a paycheck. His fantasy value, however, will be non-existent standing on the sidelines.
A savvy fantasy owner should always be aware of potential hidden gems on depth charts. Ellington may certainly be one of them. That said, he has 19 catches in 26 career games and his last contest was in 2015. Ellington is clearly a player that has to grind it out just to stay relevant.
He’ll be available should he emerge during what appears to be his third official NFL season on a roster.
