Aston Martin F1 announces senior management moves ahead of 2025 season

More changes have come to Aston Martin ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

On Friday the team announced a series of moves at the senior management level, including the naming of a new Team Principal. Andy Cowell has taken on the role of CEO and Team Principal with “immediate effect,” and former Team Principal Mike Krack has been moved into a trackside role, with the title of Chief Trackside Officer.

Krack spent the previous three seasons as the Team Principal at Aston Martin.

Enrico Cardile has been named the team’s Chief Technical Officer, and as you likely know more help is coming in that department this season. Adrian Newey is set to join Aston Martin in March as a shareholder and the team’s Managing Technical Partner.

Cowell described the changes as a “natural evolution” of Aston Martin’s vision as the team looks to secure a Constructors’ Championship in the years ahead.

“I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team,” said Cowell in a statement. “With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team. These organizational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I’m incredibly excited about the future.”

Aston Martin got off to a stellar start during the 2023 F1 season, with veteran driver Fernando Alonso — who made the shock move to Aston Martin from Alpine — securing a podium finish in six of the first eight races of the year. However, the team faded down the stretch, eventually finishing fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Fifth was again their place in the order this past season, however, Aston Martin languished in the middle of the pack throughout the year. They finished the season with 94 points (a step back from the 280 they scored in 2023) and well off the pace of fourth-place Mercedes, as the Silver Arrows banked 468 points on the year.

Aston Martin is hoping that these organizational changes, and the impending arrival of Newey, can deliver improved performance on the track, and in the standings, in the season ahead.
