AT&T National Leaderboard: Adam Scott, Hunter Haas Tied For Lead After Day One
The opening round of the 2011 AT&T National is in the books and Australian Adam Scott sits tied at the top of the leaderboard after shooting a 4-under 66. The Masters-runner up began the day on a blistering pace, nailing birdies on three of his first six holes, before cooling down on the back nine.
Unheralded American Hunter Haas shares the lead with Scott at 4-under. The 34-year old was having a rather unremarkable first round until a spectacular stretch in which he birdied four holes in a row from the 13th to the 16th.
Currently four players -- Dean Wilson, Joe Ogilvie, Jhonattan Vegas, and Kyle Stanley -- are tied for third, having finished play at 3-under par.
Last year’s winner, Justin Rose, struggled for most of the day, ending his round at even par. Rose could never quite find his rhythm and juggled between birdies and bogeys throughout the afternoon.
Vijay Singh, one of rare big-names in this year’s tournament, finished tied for seventh with a 2-under 68. Though, he played an extremely inconsistent round, erratically leaping from birdies and bogeys all morning.
Second round play begins Friday morning at 7:20 am. A complete listing of tee-times can be found here.
