2011 British Open Leaderboard Results: Thomas Bjorn, Tom Lewis Lead Field At 5-Under

The 2011 British Open’s opening round has been completed at Royal St. George’s in England. Thomas Bjorn jumped out ahead of the pack very early on Thursday morning and he finds himself atop the leaderboard at the end of the day, though he has a little company. Relative-unknown Tom Lewis shares the lead with Bjorn at 5-under heading into Friday’s second round.

Three players are tied for third at 4-under (Miguel Angel Jimenez, Lucas Glover and Webb Simpson).

Twelve players are locked at 2-under after one day of action, including Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer.

Other notable finishes on the day include Steve Stricker (-1), Phil Mickelson (E), Luke Donald (+1), Lee Westwood (+1), and Rory McIlroy (+1).

Amateur Craig Hinton and Simon Edwards had themselves pretty rough days, tying for the worst score amongs all golfers, 12-over.
