Tom Lewis was the story of the day, firing the lowest amateur round in The Open Championship history, earning himself a tie for the lead at 5-under for the tournament. Lewis was playing alongside the man he was named after, Tom Watson, in what surely had to be a thrilling day.

Rory McIlroy finds himself six shots off the pace after a 1-over day to begin the tournament. Unlike the US Open, McIlroy will have to come from behind after starting slow in difficult conditions.
