British Open 2011 Odds: Tiger Woods Only American With Decent Odds

The 2011 British Open is set to begin in just about a week and a half and oddsmakers are already handicapping the field. As expected, Rory McIlroy is favored in the early betting lines after running away from the field at the always difficult US Open. At 5/1, McIlroy paces the field, though a few familiar names hold favorable odds.

Europe dominates the top of the betting odds board, with Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer all in the top-5. Perhaps surprisingly, Tiger Woods holds 14/1 odds, the third-best in the field and tied with Donald. Woods may not even compete in the British Open and has vowed to stay away from competition until his knee is fully healed.

Sergio Garcia is also hanging around after rediscovering his swing and placing himself in competitive positions recently. Garcia holds 20/1 odds, the sixth-best in the field.
