British Open 2011 Odds: Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood Hold Best Betting Lines

With Tiger Woods out of the 2011 British Open, oddsmakers were forced to adjust, changing the lines for some of the favorites to compensate for his withdrawal. While Woods hasn’t been on form lately, he still held solid odds to win the British Open, though it’s a moot point now. With the tournament just a few days away, the latest odds are out and, not surprisingly, Rory McIlroy is favored.

By no means is McIlroy a runaway favorite; in golf there hardly is such a thing. With a large field of competitors and the element of luck, it was always unlikely McIlroy would be the clear favorite. Instead it’s he and Westwood atop the latest odds, with the US Open winner holding 6/1 odds and Westwood with 7/1 odds.

Phil Mickelson holds the best odds for an American, but is only listed at 28/1, tied with Graeme McDowell. Luke Donald (14/1), Martin Kaymer (20/1) and Sergio Garcia (22/1) are each in the top-10.
