Tiger Woods has agreed to play in the Frys.com Open from Oct. 6-9, a tournament that moved to the tiny California town of San Martin a year ago. The tournament will be held at CordeValle Golf Club, about 20 minutes south of San Jose.

“Obviously, we are very excited Tiger has decided to play in our event,” said Kathy Kolder, Frys.com Open Tournament Chairperson and Executive Vice President of Fry’s Electronics. “The boost in marquee value he brings will not only help the tournament and increase the tournament’s economic impact in San Jose, but it will also help us raise more funds for participating charities.”

Woods has said he wanted to add a tournament to his schedule since he’s been limited by leg injuries. He has played in just eight tournaments this year, and sits in 132nd place in the FedEx Cup race.

While the tournament officially dates back to 2007 when it was held in Arizona but moved to CordeValle in 2010. That year, it was one of the more exciting tournaments of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series with Rocca Mediate holing out for eagle in all four rounds, including an eagle on No. 17 in the final round. The course measures 7,333 yards for PGA Tour events.

Fry’s also own a nearby course called The Institute where they have said they would like to eventually move the course. That course measures in at nearly 8,000 yards.
