The 2011 BMW Championship is through three rounds, but the leader has yet to change at the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. With a big move up the FedEx Cup leaderboard standings in sight, Justin Rose was able to stay in front of the field with his two-under 69 score in third round play.
Rose finished the third round with a 69, his worst score of the weekend, after nailing just three birdies compared to the nine he had during the Championship’s first round. Rose is still sitting pretty on the leaderboard, though, as his 13-under for the tournament has him four strokes ahead of everyone else in the BMW Championship standings.

The end of the FedEx Cup is near and this weekend is pivotal for players hoping to nab the $10 million prize that comes along with winning the PGA Tour’s playoff system. The BMW Championship serves as the second-to-last event in the playoffs, with only the top-30 in the FedEx Cup points surviving to play in the final event of the year. A high finish in the BMW gives players a chance to safely advance to the next week, or put themselves in the driver’s seat for the massive purse.
Through two rounds, Mark Wilson and Justin Rose are tied for the lead at 11-under for the tournament. Webb Simpson is alone in second at 9-under and is projected to head into the final event of the year atop the FedEx Cup points list if the leaderboard holds. John Senden is in third-place at 8-under and is projected to vault into the top-25 and advance to play next week if he can keep it up.
