To say that LPGA star Brittany Lincicome did not exactly enjoy her recent trip to Kuala Lumpur for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia event might be something of an understatement.

Frustration over her recent poor form (two missed cuts in three previous events) boiled over after Friday’s second round at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, where the 2009 Kraft Nabisco champ finished her week at 4-over -- 11 strokes behind winner Inbee Park. But when Lincicome typed of her disappointment on Twitter, colleague Christina Kim was not amused.

The charismatic two-time LPGA victor made little more than $38,000 in 2012, did not qualify for the limited-field Asian contest, and must attend Q-School for the first time in her 10-year career. So, Lincicome’s complaints about looking forward to the end of the season and wishing that heavy rains would wash out her remaining tee times did not go down well with Kim.

Here’s what @Brittany1golf tweeted on Friday:

Her comment, after bad weather halted play --

That tweet rankled Kim, as did Lincicome’s admonishment to Kim and her boyfriend, Duncan French (@Teamfrench23 -- who chimed in with his own rebuke to Lincicome) to “calm the hell down!!!!”

The two prominent golfers tweeted back and forth, with Lincicome conceding she was just tired, arguing for her right to free speech and, apparently, eventually unfollowing the outspoken Kim.

No stranger to voicing -- and weathering the blowback from -- controversial opinions about golf, politics (including Thursday night’s VP debate), and really anything to do with life, Kim was sorry that many, including Lincicome, could not deal with her views.

“Two nights in a row I hit on contentious topics&lose 100 followers, including @Brittany1golf. Sad to see a friend unfollow due to my opinion,” tweeted Kim.

Lincicome, for her part, said she had not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.

“Disappointing for me just not playing up to my full potential,” Lincicome said. “In NO way did I mean to offend anyone else’s career or appear ungrateful”
