The PGA Tour captured the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge in a thrilling finish as Jason Day rolled in a birdie to beat Stay Lewis and the LPGA team on the second hole of a playoff. Day bombed his drive, setting up a short pitch to five feet. He converted the birdie while Lewis missed a putt inside 10 feet.

They needed a second playoff hole at the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge, but a Jason Day birdie captured the win for the PGA Tour.

The LPGA and PGA Tour teams finished dead even at 19-under at Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas. The PGA Tour team consisted of Day, Davis Love III, and local Nick Watney. The LPGA team was comprised of Lewis, Cristie Kerr, and Natalie Gulbis. Lewis has been the most consistent American woman in the game this season, but her putt to force a third playoff hole burned the edge and gave the victory to the PGA Tour.
The playoff was set up by Watney, who’s extremely familiar with the course, as he now makes his home in the area. He utilized that course knowledge on No. 18, putting a 45-foot putt right in the heart of the cup to moved his team to 19-under and force the playoff. Watney and Kerr were the two representatives to tee it up on the first playoff hole, and both carded pars on No. 18. Day then took over to clinch the win and a $500,000 prize for his team.
The Champions Tour threesome of Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, and Fred Funk finished a distant third -- six strokes back of the two other teams.
