No stinkin’ door’s gonna send Graeme McDowell to the bench

GMac’s ok after picking a fight with a hotel door

You should see the other guy. Or, in this case, the door that Graeme McDowell took a swing at on Friday. Not to worry, though, as GMac tweeted afterward that the incident would not land him on the DL.

McDowell typed to his Twitter followers about reports that the freak accident could end his 2012 season.

McDowell shot a 3-over 75 on Friday at the HSBC Champions event after catching his right hand in a hotel door while preparing to depart for the second round of the China tourney, according to reports. Observers noted that the 33-year-old from Northern Ireland seemed to be playing in pain during Friday’s round, after which he was tied for 56th -- 18 shots behind leader Louis Oosthuizen, who fired a second-round 63.

“He got it treated this morning. It was obviously quite sore because he said it feels like it’s broken,” McDowell’s manager Conor ridge told RTE Sport on Friday. “They’ve confirmed since that it’s not broken, it’s just bruised....Knowing him he’d have to be pretty bad not to play.”

And, apparently, play he will. Conor said McDowell would not miss any of the final three events on his 2012 calendar -- the World Tour Championship in Dubai, the Australian Masters, or Tiger Woods’ World Challenge.

”He’s certainly not winding down,” said Ridge. “He won’t want to miss the last two rounds here either, let’s be honest.”
