Former British Open champion Ben Curtis hasn’t been a regular fixture on PGA Tour leaderboards over the last couple of years, but he’s three-quarters of the way to winning his first PGA Tour tournament since 2006. After three rounds of play, Curtis is nine under par at the Valero Texas Open, putting him three shots ahead of his nearest competitor.
Valero Texas Open 2012: Ben Curtis Finishes Round 3 On Top
Matt Every is alone in second place at six under par, while three players sit at four-under. Curtis wasn’t terrific on Saturday, shooting a one-over 73, but it was a good enough round for him to maintain a significant advantage on top of the leaderboard. Matt Kucher had a great day, shooting five-under to get to three-under for the tournament, but he’ll need Curtis to collapse to have a shot at the title.
