Bubba Watson’s Son Gets His Own Mini Masters Green Jacket

Somewhere in Augusta, Ga., Billy Payne has gone ballistic.

The chair of Augusta National Golf Club would likely not approve, but newly green-jacketed Bubba Watson has draped his new son, Caleb, in a replica of the bilious green sports coat Daddy won and may still have on since he tapped in for par on the second frame of overtime and captured the 2012 Masters crown.

“Caleb has matching Sunday outfit!” Watson, who provided a photo of the adorable little onesy, tweeted on Saturday.

According to additional posts from the Masters champ’s @bubbawatson Twitter feed,
“someone” made the baby jacket, complete with a yellow Masters logo over the breast pocket, and gave it to Caleb as a gift.

Which is definitely not cool, according to Augusta’s tradition unlike any other. Only Masters winners -- who become honorary members if they’re not already affiliated with the all-male club -- are allowed to don the sacred robes, which victors may keep for a year and then return for safekeeping in between visits to the august confines.

Payne made it painfully clear during Masters Week that what happens behind closed doors in Augusta stays behind closed doors in Augusta, so we have no access to the actual by-laws of the stuffy old-boys club. But after a bit of research on Wikipedia (so you know it’s true!), we believe it’s safe to say that only the reigning Masters champ may wear his green jacket off the property and he must bring it back when he returns the following year. (There have been exceptions for Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, and Henry Picard, but we’re pretty sure Caleb Watson would not fall under that category).

Hey, Billy! At least the baby Bubba and his wife Angie adopted several weeks ago and who’ll be strutting his stuff in Augusta Green wasn’t a girl, right?
