The 2012 Players Championship is underway at TPC Sawgrass in Florida. The first round on Thursday has already seen many of the competitors finish their full 18 holes and there are plenty of players trying to make an early run at the top of the leaderboard.

The early leader is Ian Poulter, who is at 7-under after finishing his opening round of play. He had one bogey, coming on the par-4 seventh hole, but put up eight birdies to finish at 65.

Right behind Poulter is Blake Adams, at 6-under, followed by Kevin Na and Ben Crane, who are both tied for third place at 5-under. Five players are bunched up at 4-under, including Bo Van Pelt, who is only through nine holes and Adam Scott, who is only through seven.
