Bubba Watson To Toss First Pitch In Pensacola

Bubba Watson, who claims to be quite happy in his post-Masters sabbatical from golf, may be trying out for a new career when he tosses the ceremonial first pitch to start Friday night’s Pensacola Blue Wahoos home stand.

Watson, whom the Cincinnati Reds’ AA minor league team will honor by asking fans to wear a certain hue in honor of the Florida native’s win at Augusta, will don his green jacket when he takes the mound at 7 p.m. From the sounds of things, Bubba from Bagdad won’t be rushing back to the links any time soon.

“not missing golf at all,” @bubbawatson tweeted Thursday.

After withdrawing from the Wells Fargo Championship and this week’s Players Championship, the big-hitting southpaw tweeted that he planned to take at least a month off from competitive golf.

With former ace Josh Beckett struggling mightily and making news and enemies with an ill-advised round of golf last week, the Boston Red Sox may want to send a scout to check Watson’s performance. After all, there’s no such thing as too much pitching, and Bubba from Boston has kind of a nice ring to it.
