On Sunday, Dustin Johnson overcame a two-stroke deficit at the beginning of the day to take over the lead and emerge with the win at the 2012 FedEx St. Jude Classic. Johnson finished at 9-under, one stroke better than runner-up John Merrick, at 8-under.

A quartet of golfers finished in third place at 7-under, including Ryan Palmer, who shot 4-under for the day but couldn’t quite reach the top of the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy was just 1-under for the day, but was one of four golfers whho came in at 6-under for the tournament. That’s a strong showing from him heading into the U.S. Open next week.

This is a big win for Johnson. This is just his sixth career PGA Tour win, as well as the first tournament win for him since August of last year, when he took the top prize at the Barclays. The win pushes him into the top 20 in the FedEx Cup Standings.
