The red numbers are few and far between at Royal Lytham on Saturday as the field tries to chase down Brandt Snedeker and Adam Scott. Fewer than 20 players are under par during third round action, with most stalling out around 1-under and failing to make any sort of move.
2012 British Open Leaderboard: Zach Johnson Moves Into 3rd Place
One player trying to give himself a chance on Sunday is Zach Johnson, who’s looking for back-to-back wins after capturing the John Deere last week. Johnson currently has the low number of the day at 4-under through his first 13 holes. He’s moved to 5-under for the championship, five shots back of leader Snedeker who is working his way through the front side.
After bogeying No. 2, Johnson went on to reel off five birdies, including two straight at Nos. 12 and 13. Johnson is the big mover of the day mostly because of his putter, which has been hot all season -- a summer that already boasts two Tour wins.
But the few Saturday movers will need Snedeker to drop a shot or two and come back to the field. He has yet to blow up, let alone make a single bogey this week.
