2012 Greenbrier Classic: Webb Simpson Leads After Second Round

Tiger Woods’ missed cut may be the primary storyline after Friday at the 2012 Greenbrier Classic, but the leader has made his share of headlines of late, too. 2012 U.S. Open winner Webb Simpson used a late birdie to take the lead heading into the weekend.

Simpson finished his 4-under 66 with a birdie on the 18th hole that propelled him to 9-under for the tournament, one shot clear of five golfers tied for second at 8-under, including first-round leaders Jonathan Byrd, Jeff Maggert and Charlie Beljan, who fired an 8-under 62 on Friday.

Simpson made four birdies and no bogeys in his round, giving him 10 birdies to one bogey for the week on The Old White TPC course.
