You know how buddy-buddy Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy appear in that new Nike Golf ad that inspired an amusing spoof before the real one was slated to air on Wednesday? Call it good editing, because master and apprentice were not even on the same Southern California range at the same time -- maybe not even on the same continent -- during the October filming of the commercial.
Tiger Woods, Rory Mcilroy were worlds apart during filming of Nike ad

ESPN reported Wednesday that scheduling conflicts made it impossible for both golfers to appear together for the shooting of the ad, in which the two razz each other as they hit golf balls into holes of various shapes and sizes.
Judging by some of the pre-tourney pictures from the Middle East, where the two are set to face off in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship starting Thursday, both of them may have wanted to call in body doubles for those photo ops.
Seriously, intertwining arms and knocking back a couple of shots o’ joe? Nothing awkward about that image, which leaves one wondering what the heck the sweet but uncomfortably awkward scene has to do with golf.

About the Nike ad -- McIlroy was up first, filming his part before jetting off to China for the BMW Masters in Shanghai. Woods got his reps in some days later, reading his lines to a stand-in for the young Ulsterman, who by that time may have already been doing a lousy job of downplaying speculation about his pending switch from Titleist to Nike.
