After back-to-back second place finishes, Brandt Snedeker is closing in on his first win of the 2013 PGA Tour season.

Brandt Snedeker is holding a three-shot lead over Chris Kirk as the final groups make their way into the clubhouse on Sunday at the 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Snedeker did his damage on the first seven holes at Pebble, where there are plenty of chances to pick up red numbers and make your move.

Kirk closed to within two shots at one point, but Snedeker’s steady play from tee-to-green will make it tough to put a scare into the defending FedExCup champion. Snedeker dropped his only shot so far at the par-4 9th hole, making a bogey five. But he quickly got it back to 17-under on the very next hole at 10 and then backed that up with another birdie on 11.

Snedeker’s work around the green has been as good as ever, as he’s consistently gotten up-and-down when missing on approach shots. He saved par from the greenside rough on No. 3 and No. 8 on the front side, and then made another ridiculous up-and-down save from the shortside on No. 13. He’s also long been considered one of the best putters in the world, and he’s putting on another display on Sunday. At No. 13, he nearly sank an almost impossible winder across the green for yet another red number on the back side.

Snedeker is making a run at low round of the day, and should be in the mid 60s yet again as he pulls away for the win. Per Brian Wacker of PGATour.com, it will be the 16th time in his last 19 rounds that he’s been in the 60s. It’s a bit of a role reversal, as he’s been forced to watch Tiger and Phil cruise through the past two Sundays with multi-shot cushions and comfortable wins. But his steady play through the first month appears to be coming together for a his first win of 2013 on Sunday.
