For the first time ever, President Barack Obama is playing golf with the game’s most famous player, Tiger Woods. The two are playing at the exclusive Floridian Golf and Yacht Club in Palm City, Fla. Obama spent the weekend in South Florida, and reportedly got golf lessons at the club on Saturday from Tiger’s old coach, Butch Harmon.

The President has played plenty of publicized rounds during his time in office, but this is his first loop with the game’s biggest superstar.

The lessons from Harmon were scheduled and reported in advance, but the round with Tiger appears to be an unexpected Sunday game. Tim Rosaforte of Golf World frequents the many upscale courses in the Palm Beach area, and he was on the scene Sunday when Woods and Obama arrived on the grounds:

And apparently, it was a good start for Woods:

Obama’s affinity for the game is well-established at this point, with some of his other rounds during his time in office getting plenty of publicity. There was the bipartisan group with Joe Biden, John Boehner, and John Kasich. And then there was the visit to the golf course just hours before the final meeting on the raiding of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan.
The President and Woods are likely two of the most competitive people in the world, but no word yet on what game they’re playing or how the teams were split up. Robert Lusetich of FOX Sports did the quick handicap math:

Playing with the most powerful person in the world is a nice little warm up for Tiger, who will head to Arizona this week for some more match play.
