WGC-Accenture Match Play 2013 bracket: Oosthuizen and Donald in trouble on day full of upsets

Three upsets are already in the books at the Match Play Championship and two No. 1 seeds are on the ropes.

It’s been a day of upsets in the early going of the second round at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Three matches are in the books and all three saw lower seeds prevail as Nicolas Colsaerts, Matt Kuchar and Tim Clark all booked their spots in the round of 16.

No. 10 Colsaerts had no problem with second-seeded Justin Rose, beating him 4 & 2 in the first match of the day and that was followed up by No. 3 Garcia falling to Kuchar 2 & 1. Colsaerts and Kuchar will now square off on Saturday in a Ben Hogan bracket semifinal.

Over in the Sam Snead bracket, No. 15 Clark dispatched Thorbjorn Olesen 3 & 2. He will play Ian Poulter in the next week round, assuming Poulter can hold onto his 2 up lead on Bo Van Pelt after 16 holes.

But the upsets appear to just be getting started. Top-seeded Louis Oosthuizen currently trails Robert Garrigus by three holes with just five left to play and in the biggest surprise, No. 9 Scott Piercy is 6 up on No. 1 Luke Donald after 11 holes.

This Friday of upsets and brewing upsets comes a day after top seeds Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were sent packing in the first round at The Gold Club at Dove Mountain.
