It got a little tight at the turn, but Phil Mickelson is back in front by four shots and Brandt Snedeker is rapidly running out of holes in which to close the gap. It hasn’t been the blistering round that Phil put together the past three days, but he canned his third birdie on Sunday on No. 13 to get to 26-under. That pushed his lead back to four shots over Snedeker, who’s settled down on the back side after some strong putting early.

Phil had to scramble to keep the margin at four on his next hole, but one of the best bunker players in history of golf got up-and-down out of the sand to save par on No. 14. The trouble on No. 14 momentarily opened a window for Snedeker, but the par save and another hole gone by force him to probably make birdies all the way into the house in order to catch up.
Mickelson’s shot at a new 72-hole PGA Tour record is gone, but he does have a shot to extend his streak to 20 straight years on tour with a victory. The biggest question remaining on Sunday afternoon may be whether or not Mickelson, the Arizona State product, can entertain the crowd at No. 16 with another brilliant tee shot, following up on a his near ace there in the third round.
