Rory McIlroy withdrew from the Honda Classic on Friday after a miserable 8-plus holes in which he made a triple-bogey on the 16th hole and was on his way to a 7-over 37.
Rory McIlroy withdraws from 2013 Honda Classic

The world No. 1, whose less-than-stellar play has been under intense scrutiny since he switched to Nike equipment to start the 2013 season, was flirting with last place when he quit play at PGA National. He left the premises after telling reporters he was “not mentally there.”
There has been no official word on the reason for McIlroy’s WD, though he has been struggling mightily with his new clubs and undergoing a swing change. He was also well on his way to missing his second cut in just three worldwide events this season. He lost in the first round of last week’s WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
