Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are not scheduled to play for real again for 10 days and two-plus weeks, respectively. But as we note in our new recurring segment (not really), Your Local Sign-Up Sheet, they’ll tee it up this week when they play for all the marbles in the Medalist GC member-guest.
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy to square off in member-guest at Medalist
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will face each other for bragging rights this week in probably the most well-publicized member-guest tourney ever.

You may recall that Tiger and Rory squared off last month at Woods’ home course in their own 36-hole version of the finals after each lost in the first round of the Accenture-Match Play Championship. With each winning an 18-hole tilt, the stage is set for No. 1 or No. 2 to break the tie.
Woods will team up with former NFL Pro Bowler and new Golf Channel “Morning Drive” co-host Ahmad Rashad against McIlroy, his new-found confidence, and partner and Medalist member Michael Jordan, according to the country club whisperer, Tim Rosaforte. In what is sure to be the most-watched (if you’re a member and can get through the gate) and over-analyzed member-guest contest ever, the gang will play in the gross division of the Stableford competition.
Jordan, by the way, is also a member of the Bears Club and it’s where McIlroy went to smack balls and get his swing into shape for Doral after his untimely departure from the Honda Classic. Rashad, who joined Woods and Tiger for their 36-hole outing after their ousters from match play, also belongs to the Bears Club.

The Golf Channel/Golf Digest scribe-about-town broke the story about Woods’ round with President Obama at The Floridan, another exclusive enclave of the rich and famous.
Woods is coming off his 76th PGA Tour win -- a two-shot victory over his putting coach, Steve Stricker, in last week’s WGC-Cadillac Championship. McIlroy, for his part, finally played four consecutive rounds and reported he had “found something” with his retooled swing after firing a final-round 7-under 65. The world No. 1 finished at 10-under -- nine shots back of Woods’ game-setting pace.
