The nasty thunderstorm that hit Bay Hill on Sunday afternoon not only affected the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational, but also the annual Tavistock Cup held right down the road. With play at the API postponed until Monday morning and 44 players still on the course, there was bound to be some overlap in golfers participating in both. The most notable player is the current leader at Bay Hill and former Isleworth resident, Tiger Woods, who still has 16 holes to play in his final round.

There will be golf at Isleworth on Monday, it just won’t count towards the Tavistock Cup.

While Tavistock is not an official PGA Tour event, it is still an event that draws significant galleries, as well as tournament-style television coverage. The event is often mocked by the golf press, but many of the best players in the world are participating, generating interest in the yearly celebration of Orlando high society (an oxymoron, perhaps).
Because there are tickets purchased and TV cameras set up, there will be golf at the Tavistock Cup on Monday -- it just won’t count towards the official cup competition. Instead, the players who finished at Bay Hill, and those who weren’t in the field, will play a better-ball stroke play format. According to a release from the event’s website, these are the following groups for Monday’s improvised game (all times ET):
Group 1 - 12:20 p.m. Paul McGinley and Tom Lewis will play with Bob Tway and Scott Verplank.
Group 2 - 12:35 p.m. Brian Davis and D.A. Points will play with Peter Hanson and Webb Simpson.
Group 3 - 12:50 p.m. Tim Clark and Adam Scott will play with Ross Fisher and Graeme McDowell.
Group 4 - 1:05 p.m. Fred Couples and Jay Haas will play with Bo Van Pelt and Bubba Watson.
The course gates at Isleworth are set to open at 8:30 a.m. ET, as scheduled. Golf Channel will broadcast the event on Monday, coming on the air at the conclusion of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. That should finish up around 2 p.m. ET, if there are no other weather delays.
The Cup will then be fought for on Tuesday in a one-day, 18-hole singles stroke play event, which should include Tiger. He’s set to play for Team Albany, joining Justin Rose, Tim Clark, and Ian Poulter to represent one of the four exclusive clubs.
