D.A. Points won the 2013 Shell Houston Open on Sunday after thunderstorms passing through the area caused a brief weather delay. The delay struck when Points was on the 15th hole, but he was undeterred and went on to make par to rest of the way out to finish at 6-under on the day and 16-under overall.

D.A. Points won the 2013 Shell Houston Open on Sunday, overcoming a rain delay to take home his first victory of the season.

Points started the day one shot behind leaders Stewart Cink and Bill Haas. Those two men fell off the pace rather quickly, however, shooting 3-under and even, respectively, on the final day of play. Points held off charges from Henrik Stenson and Billy Horschel, both of whom also shot 6-under to finish at 15-under overall, forcing Points to play impeccable golf to end the day.
Points did not bogey a single hole on the day, and made birdie on Nos. 2, 3, 8, 10, 12 and 13. The win was his first of the season. It had been an otherwise forgettable year for Points until then. He had missed the cut in seven of his previous 10 tournaments played.
