2013 Puerto Rico Open: Tee times, pairings and TV schedule for Thursday

It doesn’t have the starpower of the WGC event at Doral this week, but a $3.5 million purse and some young talent should provide reasons to monitor the Puerto Rico Open.

While limited-field no-cut WGC-Cadillac Championship takes place at Doral, the rest of the PGA Tour regulars will tee it up in Puerto Rico this week for the 2013 Puerto Rico Open. It’s fairly regular protocol for the Tour to have events during weeks where they’re opposed by the world’s best at a limited event, or even a major (such as the British Open).

Doral has all the big names, as 65 of the top players from across the globe play in Miami, but this event at one of Donald Trump’s layouts still has some familiar names. John Daly, David Duval, and Justin Leonard are a few of the old standbys making appearances this week. Daly will always draw a crowd, but he improved his play a bit last season in his limited appearances on multiple tours. It’s a mix of those older guys and young, talented up-and-comers such as Scott Langley, Luke Guthrie, Patrick Cantlay, and Jordan Spieth.

Between Daly, Boo Weekly, and the young talent, there should be plenty of highlights for Golf Channel to show in between the fireworks from Tiger and Rory at Doral. Golf Channel will provide tape delayed coverage of the event on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET.

Here’s a complete list of the first round tee times for Thursday in Puerto Rico.
