Louis Oosthuizen, who started 2013 as a good bet to win this year’s Masters, has struggled with his game in recent months. He flamed out at Augusta and missed the cut, but this week he did show well in Korea at the Ballantine’s Championship. The highlight of the week, however, was a 500-yard drive that Oosthuizen hit to open his second round. The bomb drove the cart-path however, as Oosthuizen’s ball somehow settled in between the two curbs that served as bumpers for his ball, which safely came to a stop nearly two minutes after he made contact on the tee (via European Tour)

As Bacon notes, perhaps even more surprising than the 500-yard drive was the number Oosthuizen put on the card. The 2010 British Open champ could not even pick up a birdie on the par-5, 583-yard hole after the covering most of it on his first shot.
