Wells Fargo Championship 2013 scores: Rory McIlroy among 7 tied for the lead
Rory McIlroy shot a 5-under 67 on Thursday and he is one of seven players tied for the Wells Fargo lead.

McIlroy got off to a strong start, shooting a 33 on the front nine, including a string of four consecutive birdies. He also finished strong with a birdie at the 18th to join the leaders at 5-under. Nick Watney, Ryan Moore, Derek Ernst, Daniel Summerhays, Nate Smith and Robert Garrigus are also tied for the first-round lead.
Phil Mickelson played well on Thursday, shooting 34-34 for an opening of 68. He’s one of six players tied for eighth pace at 4-under, one-stroke off the lead. At the end of the first round, 22 players are at 3-under or better. While a number of players found success in the opening round, that wasn’t the case for everyone. Hunter Mahan sits in a tie for 72nd place at 1-over while Rickie Fowler and Bubba Watson are tied for 53rd at even-par. Padraig Harrington, using a belly putter for the first time, sits in last place after shooting an 8-over 80. He finished with 32 putts on the day and bogeyed nine holes.
The greens at the Quail Hollow Club became noticeably worn as the day went on, possibly giving an advantage to the players who will tee off on Friday morning. A complete leaderboard can be found at Golf.com.
