2013 Players Championship odds: Tiger Woods favored ahead of Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott

The world’s top-ranked golfer is unsurprisingly the favorite in the game’s “5th major.”

Tiger Woods couldn’t quite pull out a victory at the 2013 Masters in April, but a top-five finish in the event and wins in three of his five tournaments prior have him listed as the usual favorite for the upcoming Players Championship, beginning on Thursday. Historically, however, this is not a layout where Woods has dominated, winning only once during his career and struggling to even contend in recent years. It’s pretty apparent that he’s not a fan of the Pete Dye Stadium Course, but feels obligated to show up and play in what is the PGA Tour’s biggest event of the season.

Bovada, a sports-betting site, has set Woods at 7/1 odds to be the tournament’s outright winner, which is twice as strong as the odds that any other golfer is receiving. The two main contenders behind Woods are Masters-champion Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy at 16/1.

The winner of the tournament in 2012, Matt Kuchar, has put together a solid 2013 season so far with a win in WGC Match Play and a top 10 finish at the Masters; however, he is listed at 28/1, making him one of the potential bargains of the tournament. Phil Mickelson, winner of the Player Championship in 2007, is listed at 22/1.

Here are the complete odds for the field, from Woods at the top all the way to Joe Daley, listed with 1,000/1 chances to win (via Bovada)
