Tiger Woods’ up-and-down first round continued after the rain delay, as he finished the front nine at 2-over. Woods appeared to turn the corner after some early struggles, but continues to have issues on the greens.

It’s been a struggle for Tiger Woods thus far. If not for a long birdie putt, he would have made the turn six strokes off the lead.

Green speed hampered Woods early in the round, with several chips and putts coming up well short. He bogeyed two of his first three holes, and appeared to injure his wrist on a shot out of the rough. When the rain delay hit, Woods was 1-over with a bogey putt left on No. 5. He made the bogey when play resumed, dropping him to 2-over on the round and five strokes back.
Woods got the stroke right back, however, with possibly the putt of the tournament thus far on No. 6. His approach shot left a considerable distance -- 50 feet or longer -- but Woods was able to read the break and speed perfectly as he drilled the long putt to move back to 1-over.
After battling the rough on several holes early in the round, Woods was able to find the fairway on his final three holes of the front nine, but couldn’t capitalize with a birdie. He appeared to misread a long birdie putt on No. 7, and his 10-foot birdie putt on No. 8 just missed. His approach on No. 9 sailed long over the pin, leaving a challenging birdie try. It missed left and he then missed the comeback putt for par, dropping him back to 2-over.
While he’s played better after the rain delay, Woods continues to have issues on the green outside of that long birdie putt. With daylight running out, Woods will likely get in another couple of holes before finishing his first round on Friday morning.
