Travelers Championship leaderboard 2013: Bubba Watson’s lead dwindling

Scores continue to go low at TPC River Highlands, but Bubba Watson remains on top of the leaderboard.

Bubba Watson continues to lead the Travelers Championship, but a recent bogey dropped him one shot closer to the rest of field. Watson is now 12-under through 13 holes on Saturday and still two strokes ahead of the next closest golfer.

Saturday proved to be another solid day for scoring as many players in the early groups fired rounds in the mid-60’s. Watson appeared on his way to matching them early when he began with three birdies on his first six holes, but he’s gone somewhat cold since. Watson made the turn at 3-under on the round, but his string of six straight pars was broken by a surprising bogey at the Par 5 13th hole -- the same hole he played 2-under through the first two rounds.

Watson leads Charley Hoffman, who is 10-under through 15 holes, by two strokes. Hoffman shot an opening-round 61, struggled on Friday with a 3-over 73 and now has rebounded on Saturday with a 4-under to shoot himself back into contention.

Eleven players are currently within five strokes of Watson, including Hunter Mahan at 8-under and U.S. Open champion Justin Rose at 7-under.
