Travelers Championship 2013 results: Late triple bogey dooms Bubba Watson

Ken Duke won the tournament in a thrilling two-hole playoff, but it may not have come down to that if Bubba Watson didn’t have one bad hole.

Ken Duke is your 2013 Travelers Championship winner, defeating Chris Stroud in a two-hole playoff. Duke made a surge on the final day, knocking down six birdies and finishing at 4-under.

However, it may not be the playoff that defines this tournament, but rather one huge hole in regulation. Bubba Watson led or shared the lead for most of the tournament, and appeared to have the win in hand, but he had a critical triple bogey on the 16th hole. With a crowded field behind him, separated by only one or two shots, that was enough for him to tumble down the leaderboard. He finished in fourth place.

Elsewhere, Angel Cabrera had one of the best rounds of the tournament, shooting 7-under 63 and jumping into the Top 10 after lackluster second and third rounds. Charley Hoffman made waves when he shot a 61 in the first round, but his tournament ended with a whimper, as he scored a 72 on Sunday and finished in a tie for seventh.

Here’s the final Top 10 leaderboard:

Place Player Score
T1 (won on playoff) Ken Duke -12
T1 Chris Stroud -12
3 Graham DeLaet -11
4 Bubba Watson -10
T5 Webb Simpson -9
T5 J.J. Henry -9
T7 Ryan Moore -8
T7 Chalrey Hoffman -8
T9 Angel Cabrera -7
T9 Stuart Appleby -7
T9 Morgan Hoffmann -7
T9 Jeff Maggert -7
