The afternoon groups have begun teeing off at the British Open and, like in the morning, par remains a very good score. Zach Johnson, Phil Mickelson and others have found out the hard way dropping shots early in their rounds.
British Open leaderboard: Zach Johnson, Phil Mickelson having issues early
The late groups are hitting the course at the British Open and Zach Johnson ran into trouble early with a bogey at No. 1.

Johnson opened the day with the lead and maintained his one-stroke lead when he teed off. The lead didn’t last long, however, as Johnson hit his tee shot into the rough and went on to make a bogey at the opening hole. Johnson had just one bogey in the first round.
Phil Mickelson also ran into trouble early as a double bogey on No. 2 dropped him back to even for the tournament. Mickelson putted poorly on No. 2, missing a long par putt by a wide margin. He then missed the six-foot putt for bogey and dropped two shots. Brandt Snedeker also dropped two shots with a double bogey as chipping issues led to a five on the Par 3 fourth hole.
Bubba Watson is one of the few late players under par. He dropped a shot early at No. 2, but birdies at No. 3 and No. 5 have him to 1-under on the round and 2-under overall. Watson nearly made eagle at No. 5, but settled for a tap in birdie.
