The week following a major is always a bit of a letdown in golf, but this week the PGA Tour makes its annual stop in Greensboro for the Wyndham Championship. It’s one of the most historic stops on the circuit, an original dating back to the 1930s. But with its current spot on the calendar, sandwiched between a major and the FedExCup postseason, it can be hard to draw a solid field -- certainly not comparable to the days when Sam Snead was setting records here.

With the FedExCup on the horizon, here’s how to watch the PGA Tour’s final regular season event of 2013 with several bubble boys battling to get in the playoffs.

But the spot on the calendar also provides for a little bit of drama, as many players, including some familiar names, fight for last minute inclusion, or improved standing, in the FedExCup. The top 125 in the standings will get the invite to next week’s opening Playoffs event at The Barclays, and this is the last chance for the bubble boys to sneak into that field. Tommy Gainey, Vijay Singh, and Padraig Harrington are a few of the bigger names just outside the top 125, while others, such as Sergio Garcia, Brandt Snedeker, Webb Simpson, and Jordan Spieth are firmly entrenched and just warming up. And then there are those, like Ernie Els, looking for a boost in the standings to try and lock up the guaranteed invites deeper into the four-week postseason.
With this event opposite the Solheim Cup, the women’s version of the Ryder Cup, the broadcast coverage is a little odd this week. Golf Channel will carry live coverage on three of the four days of tournament play, but at different hours each day which is not their typical format. CBS will then take over for their usual weekend coverage, with both networks providing livestream simulcasts online. Here’s the schedule for the week.
