With the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship Sunday night, the 2013 PGA Tour regular season is now complete and the race to get into the FedExCup Playoffs is closed. But last week’s event in Greensboro did not impact the standings, and for the first time in the six-hear history of this playoff format, not a single player broke into the top 125 in the standings at that historic stop in North Carolina.
FedEx Cup 2013 field: Tiger Woods tops 125 golfers through to PGA Tour’s playoffs
Unlike the previous six years, the final week of the regular season on the PGA Tour did not affect the 2013 FedExCup playoff field, which is led by Tiger Woods.

Ben Crane, who missed the cut at the Wyndham, is the last man in thanks to Robert Streb, who did make the cut but was one shot short of a finish that would have landed him an invite to The Barclays. Crane started the final regular season event at No. 124 in the standings, and an MC likely meant he was out. But no one on the other side of the 125-line could make the jump up, including name players and former major winners like David Toms, Vijay Singh, and Padraig Harrington. Patrick Reed, who earned his first career Tour win on Sunday night, jumped 56 spots up to No. 22 in the standings.
In the previous six years of the race for the FedExCup, at least one (and as many as five) player has moved off the bubble in the final event of the regular season. The biggest jump up the standings occurred in 2009, when Heath Slocum, who played at Greensboro as No. 124, moved all the way up to third by winning the first playoff tournament at Liberty National.
That new Tom Kite design will be the host again this week, as the field gets trimmed from 125 to 100 at The Barclays. Based on the past six years, PGATour.com estimates that a player will need to push up around the 520-point threshold in order to land in the top 100 and advance to the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston. From there, the field gets cut to the top 70 for the BMW Championship and then only the top 30 move on to Atlanta for the Tour Championship and a potential $10 million total playoff prize.
Fortunately for the Tour and golf fans, the biggest names, such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, will safely move through all four events because of their work throughout the year. Woods, who has won the FedExCup twice (2007, 2009), is firmly entrenched in the top spot of the standings thanks to his five-win season so far.
Here are the top 125 who will tee it up at The Barclays, as well as the next 25 who just missed out on this year’s playoffs:
