2013 Barclays leaderboard: Tiger Woods bounces back from poor front 9

Woods had three bogeys over a five-hole span, but nullified the bogeys with a strong back nine on Saturday.

Tiger Woods surged back into the top five at The Barclays on Saturday afternoon after three bogeys over a five-hole span earlier in the day caused him to tumble down the leaderboard. Woods ended the third round with a 2-under 69 at Liberty National Golf Course in Jersey City and is at 8-under for the tournament through 54 holes.

Woods looked to be off to a good start in the third round after sinking a birdie on the par-four first hole, but consecutive bogeys on the third and fourth holes -- as well as a third bogey on the seventh hole -- took him off course. Woods bounced back with four birdies in the remaining 11 holes, though, to nullify his early rough stretch.

Woods is in a three-way tie for fourth place, trailing leaders Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland by four strokes and Kevin Chappell by three.

Saturday’s best score belongs to Chappell after he managed to pass 40 golfers on the leaderboard with a nine-under round on Saturday. The 62 score is the best round of the tournament so far and put Chappell one stroke off the lead through three rounds.
