2013 BMW championship: TV schedule and coverage for Thursday’s round

The PGA Tour makes its annual stop in Chicago, where only 70 players remain in the playoffs and just 30 will be left after four days at Conway Farms.

The 2013 FedExCup continues on Thursday morning after a week off, as the PGA Tour swings to Chicago for the annual BMW Championship. This year’s Chicagoland venue is a new one, Conway Farms, and there have been mixed reviews from the players so far this week. The Tom Fazio design is a departure from the more classic Chicago-area courses, most notably Cog Hill, which often hosts this event. Tiger Woods remarked on the differences between the layouts on Tuesday during his media availability, and the comments weren’t exactly glowing.

There are 70 players left in the third of four postseason events, allowing the PGA Tour some room to maneuver should inclement weather hit the Lake Forest course. Weather interrupted play at the first two FedExCup stops in New York and Boston, but there are only 24 tee times to work through the 18-hole setup this week. With that limited field, the PGA Tour won’t send players off until 10:20 a.m. local time (11:20 ET). The groups are going off split tees, but times are condensed in a two-hour window.

Golf Channel and its Comcast sister, NBC, will have the television coverage for the week. The first two rounds will be broadcast exclusively on Golf Channel, which will run their coverage during their customary 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. time slot for Thursday and Friday. Given the tee time schedule, play should be wrapped up before 6 p.m. Here are all your media options for the first round, including a simulcast online stream for Thursday:
