With more than half of the PGA Tour postseason field on the chopping block this week at the BMW Championship, several superstar and name players will have to find their form, and fast, at Conway Farms. There are just there 54 holes left, and while the BMW does not make a cut of the 70-man field, the FedExCup only allows 30 through to next week’s final TOUR Championship. It’s a high bar and the most exclusive field in golf, one that defending BMW Championship winner Rory McIlroy is in danger of missing.
BMW Championship 2013: TV schedule and coverage for Friday’s round
Golf Channel will once again have the coverage on Friday, when they’ll come on the air late in the afternoon for the second half of Tiger Woods’ second round.

McIlroy started the week at No. 41 in the FedExCup standings, and he opened his tournament in Chicago with an ugly 7-over round of 78. Rory has the talent to get hot with his irons or putter and make a run up the leaderboard back into contention, but given everything we’ve seen from him this year, the odds are heavily against it. So while there’s still time and 54 holes left for young Rory, his forgettable 2013 season is likely coming to an end here in Lake Forest.
Rory will be out in the first group of the day, teeing off at 11:20 a.m. ET. That means he’ll be just about done with his round when Golf Channel comes on the air at 3 p.m. It’s a discouraging end to the year and if he plays like he did on Thursday, the weekend rounds will also be played in relative obscurity, early in the day before the TV cameras come on. Tiger Woods, currently tied for third, and Brandt Snedeker, who leads at 8-under, should be the focus of Golf Channel’s late afternoon coverage. Those two go off in back-to-back groups around 1 p.m., so they should have at least nine holes left during the three-hour TV coverage window. Here are your media options for Friday at Conway Farms:
