Ken Duke is happy to be here. Duke, one of the older regulars on Tour, finally picked up his first career PGA Tour win last year at the The Travelers Championship in June. It was an arduous journey, with plenty of struggles and lapses so by now, he’s definitely one of the nicer and more easygoing players on Tour.

After that win in Connecticut, Duke had that memorable camera muggin’ that even made Deadspin, probably the last place you’d think Duke would end up. He also had a little bit of fun during those Sunday Night Football style intros at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions a couple weeks ago, mimicking that emphatic “THE” that Ohio State devotees are so fond of.
So, for a 44-year-old relatively unknown journeyman golfer, I guess you could say Duke has a little bit of personality… even if most would probably say it’s next level nerdy. But it’s a lovable nerdy.
Well, Duke took it to another level on Sunday at the Humana Challenge, when he aced the 17th hole of the PGA West Palmer Course. It’s one of the shortest and easiest holes of the entire PGA Tour season, just over 100 yards, but that didn’t stop Duke from losing his mind, and performing a little dance:
Ehhhh … probably won’t see Richard Sherman trying to incorporate that into his celebratory arsenal for the Super Bowl. It’s just a little hard to make fun of a guy who’s reputedly one of the nicest, most unassuming dudes in sports.
