Farmers Insurance Open purse: Scott Stallings cashes another $1 million payout

It’s not the largest purse on Tour, but a signature win in a deep field at Torrey Pines is good enough for another $1M check for Scott Stallings.

Scott Stallings clinched the third PGA Tour win of his career on Sunday afternoon and his second million dollar winner’s check. Stallings will cash $1,098,000 check from the $6.1 million purse at the Farmers Insurance Open.

The 2011 Greenbrier Classic champion had previously earned a winner’s check of $1.08 million for the victory at the West Virginia resort. He also cashed out $540k for his True South Classic title, an event that was not a full FedExCup points tournament when he won it. But Sunday’s victory at Torrey Pines, given the field and the venue, is not only his biggest payday but also a signature win for the 28-year-old.

Tiger Woods, the richest athlete in the world, also cashed a check this week and he didn’t even have to play the final 18 holes on Sunday. Woods, for the first time in his career, earned the ignominious Made Cut-Did Not Finish distinction after his disastrous round of 79 on Saturday. That dropped him all the way to the bottom of the leaderboard, but because he made the initial 36-hole cut, he still earned almost $11k, which is a little extra walking-around money.

The Farmers is just the second leg of the annual six-week West Coast swing at the start of the PGA Tour’s season, with all six stops doling out more than $1 million to the winner. The $6.1 million total purse is actually on the smaller side for the West Coast swing, with each purse increasing incrementally over the next month.

Here are the final payout totals from this week’s Farmers Insurance Open:
