While most of the country is shoveling out from a January snowstorm, the PGA Tour is starting its new calendar season on Maui. The Plantation Course at Kapalua hosts the traditional start to the year, and it’s probably the most scenic and unique stop on the PGA Tour. But someone on (or something related to) the grounds crew screwed up this weekend during the second round.

Jason Dufner was in the fifth fairway when the Kapalua irrigation system made an unplanned appearance. The 2013 PGA Championship winner is likely preoccupied with Auburn’s Monday night game against Florida State, and he didn’t really flinch when the sprinklers fired up:
That happens with a bit of regularity while your regular weekender is chopping up a local muni, but that’s not something you often see in the middle of a PGA round.
Dufner, who was about a foot away from a double eagle on this hole on Friday, calmly moved on to birdie the hole for his one red number on the front side on Saturday. If anything, the sprinklers probably provided an assist by softening up the hole for one of the game’s best ball strikers.
