Accenture Match Play 2014: Tee times, TV schedule and matches for Sunday

The WGC Match Play champion will be crowned on Sunday, but whoever wins will first have to get through the semifinals.

Stuart Franklin

Following four days of golf and 60 eliminations, the Accenture Match Play field has been cut to four. It will be narrowed all the way down to one by the time Sunday is over, but there will be a lot of golf played before a champion is crowned. The action will start early Sunday morning with the semifinal matches and continue late into the afternoon with the championship and consolation bouts.

Jason Day and Rickie Fowler will be the first group to hit the course as they’re scheduled to tee off at 9:05 a.m. ET. Fowler is coming off back-to-back strong rounds and he’ll need another one to get past Day. Although he played four close matches to reach the semis, Day has blistered the Dove Mountain course. He’s played the course to 16-under thus far, according to Jamie Kennedy, the best of any remaining player. Fowler isn’t far behind at 12-under for the week.

Ernie Els and Victor Dubuisson will head to the first tee not long after Fowler and Day. Els cruised into the semifinal with a 4 & 2 win against Jordan Spieth. He’ll need to knock off another young rising star if he’s going to reach the championship match. Although he doesn’t have the name recognition as the other remaining players, the 23-year-old Dubuisson is proving he has the game to match up with the best in the world.

Once the semifinals are complete, the players will head back to the first tee for the championship and consolation matches. The winner of Day-Fowler will face the winner of Els-Dubuisson, while the players who lose in the semifinals will face off for third place. The consolation match is scheduled to begin at 1:40 p.m., while the championship match is slated to start at 2 p.m.

Golf Channel will handle the semifinal television coverage with its broadcast scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Following an hour break in coverage, CBS will pick things up for the championship and consolation matches with coverage from 2 to 6 p.m. Both broadcasts will be available online via live simulcasts. Viewers can watch the semifinal coverage at Golf Live Extra while CBSSports.com will have a stream of the late broadcast.
