The Super Bowl is in the rear view mirror, which in the golf world means players, athletes, celebrities and others are headed to Pebble Beach. The annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am kicks off on Thursday with a field full of recognizable names, and golfers.

Breaking down the 'celebrity' golfers
When if comes to the Pebble beach Pro-Am, the word 'celebrity' is pretty broadly defined. Here's a breakdown of some of the amateurs you may or may not already know. Pro-ams are not rare on the PGA Tour, but this week is a little different. Instead of the usual competition to kick off the tournament week, the amateurs will actually be in the field. The field consists of 156 PGA Tour pros, each paired with an amateur competitor. The amateur field consists of professional athletes, actors, musicians and CEOs. Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Russell, Don Cheadle and Kenny G are among the notable amateurs in the field this year.
The pairings will play the first three rounds together with a 54-hole cut made following the third round. The low 25 teams will advance to the final round. The AT&T uses a three-course format. During the first three rounds, groups will rotate between Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula Country Club -- just three of the courses that make up the embarrassment of riches on the Monterey Peninsula. The pairings that make the 54-hole cut will return to Pebble Beach for the final round.
There are several notable pairings, but none may be more eye-catching than the duo of John Daly and Kid Rock. The two have played in pro-ams before and that resulted in Daly hitting a tee shot off the top of a can of beer. We’ll have to wait and see if any other unusual objects are used as a tee this week.
