The PGA Tour’s west coast swing continues Friday with one of the more unique stops all season, the old Crosby Clambake. The first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am was hit by a lengthy rain delay early in the morning on California’s Monterey Peninsula, pushing things back a couple hours. It’s been one of the driest stretches in California history, but this event is renowned for getting drenched and of course, Thursday marked the worst weather in eight months, according to local and former Pebble cart boy Alan Shipnuck (and pro Mark Wilson).

After some lengthy delays on Thursday, the second round is expected to be relatively dry at the “most felicitous meeting of land and sea in creation.”

There is likely no greater spot in the world for top golf courses than the Monterey Peninsula, it is a nonpareil embarrassment of riches. For the first three days, there are three courses in play -- the name host Pebble Beach as well as nearby Spyglass Hill and the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club (Cypress Point, usually the highest-rated setup in the extremely condensed golf paradise, is too good to host a tournament that chops up the grounds).

With three courses in use, there’s no need to have a morning and afternoon wave for sun-up to sun-down golf, so it makes things a little easier for scheduling, even with groups of four and some slow-playing amateurs adding to the length of the round. The second round is scheduled to start one hour later than originally scheduled, at 9 a.m. local or noon ET.
The last groups out on the course are just getting through the 14th holes at their respective courses, so that first round will be cleaned up early in the AM before folks are shuttled over to the next course for the start of the second round. Golf Channel and PGATour.com will continue their coverage on Friday, with the the TV broadcast going live at 3 p.m. ET. There will be the usual simulcast stream from Golf Channel’s LiveExtra also going live at that time, but PGATour will continue to have their “Featured Holes” stream up and running all day, starting at 11 a.m. ET. Here are all your media options for the second round, with cameras pretty exclusively focused on the players out on Pebble, as opposed to Spyglass and MPCC.
